In my experience that can mean over or under watering. I have also noticed this when bringing the plants inside for the winter. If they don’t adjust right they can do that. I usually leave them alone.

In the case of under watering I would let it sit with some water in the soil, but not for too long. Make sure the soil is well drained.

If it is overwatering just don’t water the plants for a while and keep an eye on it.

Dear All,

I am about to consume your product aloe gel as prevention. There are 2 things that I am concerned about:

1. I am O blood type and there are few opinions that aloe is not suitable even harmful for persons with this blood type.

2. I have problems with my bladder, often infection (and that is the only known problem that I have). Some of your consumers (not the one I personally know) who also have bladder problems said that they had a huge difficulties with health using aloe gel.

Please advice. I am not sure what to do now. Can you with certainty claim that aloe and these 2 issues are not related? According to your answer I will choose whether to use aloe or not.

I had been DAILY taking 50 ml of aloe Vera Juice. I was having excellent health and daily routine.

Due to non availability of trusted product there was a gap for a long time.

Recently I have IBS and have extremely painful burning in anus 15 minutes after bowel. This persists for about 2-3 hours and then subside. Anti acidity drug help but have side effects.

Will Aloe Vera Juice treat this condition ? If so, please recommend appropriate product available in US as I will be visiting US in April 12.

I have heard that aloe gel should be used within four hours of harvesting from the plant. It should be washed thoroghly several times before consumption. A leaf that is about 10 to 12 months old should be used for best results.

Just another positive statement about the efficacy of aloe vera juice. My mother (who died in 1998) was severely crippled in her middle age by rheumatoid arthritis. About 20 years before she died she heard about aloe vera juice and began taking it. In a remarkably short time she was pain free. Her joints were still crippled, but she said she could live with it, so long as the pain was gone.

Hey Tom,

I used to live in England. I am currently in Africa now, though (but I’m moving back to England next year). I know for sure that many people believe the weather in England (and in other parts of the United Kingdom) doesn’t work well with aloe vera plants, but the truth is, you can grow an aloe vera plant indoors in the UK. Just keep the plant somewhere where it can get light (you can keep it on a windowsill, by a window or something if you want (best to keep it around somewhere that the temperature’s about 20-25 degrees Celsius) . I keep mine right by the window). I’ve heard people say that their aloe plant grows well in bathrooms, dunno. I’ve never tried that.
As long as your plant has water and light, it’s fine. You don’t need to do much to keep it alive and healthy. Oh! but during winter, don’t give your plant a lot of water or it’s going to die due to the weather’s effect on it.

You just might be able to buy and aloe vera plant at Gandy’s Roses (Station Road, North Kilworth,Lutterworth,Leicestershire. LE17 6HZ). I’ve never been there, but I’ve been told they sell aloe plants there.

Is there any particular extraction process needed to get the gel ie. is it pretty straight forward? And does it only grow in warmer climates? (I’m in the UK btw).

I have not had a problem with ants personally, but I have read that food grade diatomaceos earth might help. I have also read it needs some sort of ant bait with it in order for it to work, but I don’t know if that is so.

Yes, the baby plants should be potted separately as they can drain the nutrients from both the mother plant and also the soil. Usually you will notice as the smaller plants get larger; if not separated the mother plant will gain a brown tinge.

Check to see if the soil is packed around the base enough for it to stand properly. Also what kind of soil was used? Make sure you are not over watering it. Also make sure it is the right temperature range in your area for your aloe.

Hi,

You can buy an aloe vera plant. I have one that my grandmother gave me. It’s easy to extract the aloe vera gel from the plant and by getting the aloe vera gel straight from the plant, you are positive that it’s 100% pure/natural, nothing added, no preservatives or chemicals. I believe it shouldn’t cost much to get an aloe vera plant and like all you need to do is just give the plant water from time to time and well, that’s it, let it grow, get the gel you want from it and so on.
My dad gave me a bottle of Aloe Vera Gel and like it doesn’t feel a thing like aloe vera gel, plus it’s full of chemicals and preservatives so, I’m not going to really use it because all those chems put me off.
If you don’t want to just buy a plant and get the gel out of it, I agree that you can get it from aloe1.com or well, you can get it also from http://www.rootsherbal.com/eng/3av.html.

I recently moved to a house with my newly potted small aloe plant & it has slowly started turning very soft at the base of the leaves to where they fall off in your hand when you touch them. they are leaning over to one side even, what do I do? I am interested in Aloe Vera Barbadensis for it’s anti-inflammatory abilities. I am 62 years old and have spells of Sciatica and sometimes I use Ibuprofen to reduce the inflammation. It works well but has many side effects, one being raising blood pressure, possible kidney and liver issues. How can I get the AVB in a pill form for anti -inflammatory use. Thanks for your help. I am looking into getting an aloe vera plant but have a concern regarding the “environment” in my apartment: I have “forced” dry heat radiators. Every other plant I bring in here doesn’t make it: e.g., poinsettia, rosemary.

Now, I think the aloe vera plant is quite different and want to just “go” for it but thought I would check here first. Anyone have any insight on this?

I have always been plagued by numerous female health problems like inflammation, burning, itching, constant urinary tract infections, BV, and i’ve recently had two abnormal pap smears. My doctor always looks at me and says that everything looks fine and that i worry too much. He’s even compared me to his scitzophrenic son! I’m sorry but he doesn’t know what i’m going through. It’s not his body so he doesn’t care. I’ve been on so many different antibitics for all my numerous health problems. Nothing works. Now i hear about the extraordinary benefits of aloe vera! Try to obtain an aloe vera plant….keep it in a pot and use it fresh when needed, all you need to do is remove the outer layer of the leave
and use the inside gel. you do not need to cut more than an inch across blend with some juice and it will be fine. You should take a look at royal jelly if you are planning to kick start your autoimmune. Before i would try drinking an half glass of warm lemon juice to flush liver for a couple of days…….hope this helps

If it doesn’t make your hair dry (or if you have a natural oil or butter on your hair before you use it), you don’t have to wash it out till your next wash day.
I’m really into hair, that’s why I know this. I use aloe vera gel on my hair quite often and I know people who do too. I’ve done my research and I’ve gotten first hand/primary information from my hair (how it responded to aloe vera gel being on it….

Hello Dave. Your understanding is correct. The yellowish aloin is the laxative and is to be avoided. The inner gel is the good part. Some people filet the leaves and run the inner parts through a blender to drink. Others “steep” them as you do. Here is an example of cutting out the filet: http://youtu.be/bYxpBG6zsMc You should then rinse it to get any aloin off before blending it.

I live in a wet climate region yet am from a hot climate area of which my family always had aloe plants and we would use as needed for burns scratches etc. Now, I would like to use it for daily health purposes but not sure how to go about it given the fact that I cannot maintain a plant in my cold damp climate. You state “The aloe vera gel that comes directly from the plant is a yellowish liquid. It can be obtained by simply breaking off a piece of the aloe plant. The liquid will run out and can be applied topically”. My undesrstanding is that the yello liquid that drains off when the aloe is cut and stood up is the aloin. The remainder of the plant has a clear gel. I use this “remainder” to “steep” for 8 hours in a container of water in the fridge to get the juice. As this juice is used the jar is topped up for a few days before discarding the green outer layer to the compost heap.Is this correct?I have a couple of “brews” going simultaneously so I am never out of juice.

I have 2 potted aloe plants. Both are about 50+ cm , 60+cm tall.

But they are slim , not like the ones i see in pictures which are fat.

So how can i know if they are the edible types.

Some friends told me mine are edible.

But since almost 250 species of aloe plants look alike , how can i tell which 4 types are edible.

In most cases I’ve found you can leave the plant in a sunny spot and don’t water it. It should revive itself. Just check on it every other day. Be sure to drain the excess water out of the pot.

I am new to aloe vera plants and care, im glad I found you!
My small aloe vera is growing better indoors…it almost died from freezing weather( I didnt know they arent good with cold temps)Its making a come back, yet its new growth is a very light color of green- almost a yellowish/lime green…forgive my ignorance , but is this normal? I make medical marijuana butter and baked goods. I have been looking into tinctures and do not like the alcohol base and am not thrilled with the glyceryn bases either.

Today, I found Aloe Vera juice for consumption (4-8 oz daily). I bought a gallon and an thinking a cold process extraction.

Do you have any information on this?

I have bought Aloe-vera juice from Booths and Holland and Barrots and using
it. Let us see what happens. I could not find Gel. However there is one separately sold. I am still confused that gel you are talking about can be used both to drink
and apply on skin. I mean same stuff or juice is to be drunk and gel to be applied are two different stuffs.Gel in Booth are sold in tube while juice in a bottle of 500
or 475 litres.

As far as I know Aloe Vera Gel is excellent for any stomack pain, am I right or not. I used that for several months after my ankle surgery and it helps me a lot for my stiches and wounds. I believe to that, but I would like to know if someonece who has unknown stomack pain will that help or not, becuase I know that is exccelent for stomack problems. Please advise.

I use both, the juice and the gel but the product is “Lily of the Desert”….as for colloidal silver…if it says “shake well before using”…don’t buy it. Hey there!
I have a few questions. I live in Oman and here there are fields of Aloe Vera here. We have around 30 plants in our garden and we recently found out about their health benefits. So I heard people say cut a leaf off and cut a small slice off that and scrape the jelly out of it into a blender, mix it with whatever you like and drink the mixture. Then just wrap the remaining Aloe Vera leaf in cling film and put it into the fridge so the jelly part that is exposed to air wont oxidize and the vitamins will remain in it. Now as you said there are only 4 species of Aloe Vera that are safe to be consumed, how do i know that ours are safe? Is it safe to directly consume it ,just chopped off the pant, without any processing? Also if it is safe, will the vitamins still remain if it is left in the fridge wrapped in cling film for about a week and a half until all of it is consumed? I do have a friend who started drinking Aloe Vera milkshakes and in a few weeks her skin had got a lot brighter and looked more healthy. It tastes alright mixed with pomegranate, banana and some milk. Also are there benefits if you just rub the jelly on your skin?

Aloe actually works from the outside in and inside out…I use it all the time. Experience with female friend stopping colon bleeding using 1 ounce a day in both ends in 9 days the bleeding stopped and they could operate. Never even asked what she did.

After reading the above comments, I wish to share that I had been taking Aloe Vera Gel and find it very good. Now after a very long gap of time, I am considering taking it again for overall good health. Also, whenever I get a slight burn or scald in the kitchen, I immediately apply an aloe vera gel locally manufactured, and don’t suffer a blister. The aloe vera gel that I had been taking is in the form of liquid, like a juice, and I take one tablespoon in the mornings on an empty stomach. That is good enough to keep me fit and fine.

I have some fab looking Aloe vera plants in my garden (in Spain). I brought some back to the uk to use for myself. I cut it into 1 inch wide strips and wrapped it in clingfilm then stored it in the freezer for later use. I washed my skin and my hair, I had tons of the stuff, so i decided to sell some to health and beauty shops. No one new what to do with it in its natural form, so it ended up in the bin, next time I go to Spain i might bring a fresh batch with me if only i new what to do with it.....any ideas?
